Cleansing down and redressing Masonry.
This work was specified; but was omitted in the
Bill of Quantities.
The labour of dressing down was greatly increased
owing to the indifferent face left on the granite
when first fired and to the delay in completing
the carcase of the building.
The quantity amounts to 117,100 feet super and the
value of this under normal conditions would be
$5,270.
2. Centering.
Amount due to Contractor.

Centering was in the Bill of Quantities included with the concrete for floors, lintols, and domes; but
was omitted for all brick and granite arches. The quantity required for this amounts to 14,180 feet super
and the value is 83,124.40.

Stone set in Portland cement in lieu of lime mortar.
Much of the granite, which in the final account was valued as in mortar, was set in cement. The quantity amounts to 26,046 feet cube. The extra value at
Contract rates is 3,140.
